Accessibility Statement
We are committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and regularly apply accessibility standards and best practices in force.
Compliance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define the requirements with which designers and developers must comply in order to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They define three levels of compliance: Level A, Level AA and Level AAA.
We have installed an automatic accessibility tool that runs in the background. This tool uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to correct accessibility gaps in the HTML code. In addition, it provides an interface that allows visitors to modify their browsing experience. The complete set of tools aims to help this site comply as much as possible with the WCAG 2.1 level AA standards.
Additional accessibility considerations
Although our goal is WCAG 2.1 level AA compliance, we have also applied certain success criteria from level AAA: text images are used only for decorative purposes. Some WCAG 2.1 level AA requirements are not included in the remediation process because they are not within the scope of the website's source code, particularly video captions.
Measures taken by this website to conform
- Complete audit of the website according to WCAG 2.1 level AA requirements and correction during page loading. All elements of the page are analyzed and verified against our accessibility standards library to ensure their compliance. If a correction is necessary, the element is marked and our Ai correction tool makes the necessary and non-invasive corrections on the client-side of the site.
- Automatic recognition and correction of images and links for content that does not contain alternative text or title for users who need a screen reader; descriptions are stored to be adjusted by the user to help our machine learning algorithms.
- Quick access to search on the Meriam website to find the definition and pronunciation of words.
- Adjustments for color blindness to improve color distinction for red-green color blindness (deuteranomaly, protanomaly, protanopia, deuteranopia), blue-yellow color blindness (tritanopia, tritanomaly), and other types of color blindness (achromatopsia, achromatomaly).
- Reset fonts to Arial or implement dyslexia-friendly font.
- Ability to highlight titles and links.
- Text enlargement
- Scaling of content, font, line height, line spacing, and zoom
- Content alignment, including left, center, and right
- Dark and light contrast modes and high contrast that increases the contrast ratio to 135% and completely inverts colors
- Saturation settings, including high (140% saturation), low (90% saturation), and monochrome (0% saturation)
- Full control over element colors, including title color, font, and background settings, with safe color palettes to ensure an optimal contrast ratio of 4.5%
- Ability to stop animations (videos, animated graphics, web element transitions, etc.), hide all images, and mute sound
- Simple reading guide or more elaborate page mask to help users focus on page content
- Highlighting elements on hover or on focus to allow keyboard and mouse users to orient themselves on the selected element
- Screen reader that reads page content on highlighted elements
- Full keyboard navigation control
- Settings grouped into navigation profiles to quickly deploy accessibility configurations for multiple user types

Remarks
Although our primary goal is to make the entire site accessible to all users, it is possible that some pages have not been discovered or do not have a satisfactory remediation solution for accessibility at this time. We are committed to constantly improving the accessibility of this site to ensure its accessibility for everyone.
