Following the King's passing, here is some advice and information from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) for visitors currently in Thailand:
Menu
Dress in black or dark colors
It is not mandatory, but they ask tourists to dress in black or appropriately during this period of mourning.
National mourning: be respectful
You must behave appropriately, (as I said in the announcement of the king's death , if you want to celebrate, it is better to go to neighboring countries).
Tourist sites will be open
All tourist attractions will be open except the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Keo where the funeral will be held.
National mourning: bars and nightclubs closed
The government has asked for cooperation from bar and nightclub managers, but whether or not they open will depend on the owners (no doubt the owners will respect the national mourning...).
Cultural and traditional events will take place
Many cultural and traditional events will continue as normal except there will be changes to make them more appropriate and respectful and some may be dedicated or in tribute to His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Administrations will remain open
All transport, banks, hospitals and other public services will be open as usual.
Security is reinforced
Authorities have stepped up safety and security measures for Thai and foreign visitors to facilitate their travel.
