Waniphok (วณิพก – “The Minstrel”) is the title song of the album “Wanipok” which tells the story of a blind street musician.
This song by the band Carabao became a major hit.
Carabao: Wanipok
This song has a very particular style, a kind of mixture of folk rhythms from Northeast Thailand like " Mor Lam " and " Luk Thung " with Latin American rhythms.
The band's future albums will feature many songs in this style.
Aed proudly noted that before Waniphok, nightclubs in Thailand only played Western songs, but Waniphok's catchy rhythms managed to break that barrier.

mêua duang dtaa kŏngg chăn man mêut mít
At that time,
my eyes went dark However my life was not yet descended
into
darkness Even if the love
that I
secure
jà ráang glai mâi hŭan gllàp keun ma never to return
with
a
mí róo keun róo wan way-laa
Not knowing the passage of time
piang mâyt-dtaa chăn bâang … bpen kráng kraao
Just spare some kindness for me? . . . Now and then.
Living in the world of darkness,
a
place
You may listen
and take in
/
Would
look to find or see something and be
nai kwaam făn yaam chăn lóm dtua non
a dream.
I
lay down and
slept a purpose. . .
I
,
my body is still hot
Still
I will see the blazing sun Why should I be sound asleep, quiet
, all the time
? Therefore I came to be a wandering
beggar
,
...
sàyt ngern
Traveling around . . .
singing
songs for bits of money gèp bpen sùan gern What's leftover from eating,
I keep as a
surplus rák-săa duang dtaa
I'll use the savings to treat my eyes
I
to be. . . a wandering beggar
เร่ร่อน... róng playng lâek sàyt ngern Traveling around . . .
singing
songs for scraps of money gèp bpen sùan gern What's leftover from eating,
I keep as a
surplus rák-săa duang dtaa
I'll use the saving. . .
to
treat
my
eyes
I would like to reimburse the life that came unto
me เพื่อทดแทน
As well as tend to music for
the
listener
Its
from the dark world and meaningful I will sing out
without
ceasing
“
You sing songs for the buffaloes to hear ”
are
still people who
understand
“
You sing songs for the buffaloes to hear ”
are
still people who
understand
“
You sing songs for the buffaloes to hear ”
are still people
. . . who understands!
