They are accused of having killed and dismembered a compatriot in the Bang Bua Thong district, in Nonthaburi in the center of the country, in April.

The suspects, arrested in Laos in June, were transferred to Thai authorities in Nong Khai province.

The immigration police alerted the Bang Bua Thong police station in Nonthaburi, which then went to Nong Khai to take the suspects into custody.

Colonel Prut Chamroonsart, head of the station, told Thai media:

“Mr. Takuya Kato, 50, and Mr. Hiroto Suzuki, 28, both suspected of belonging to a Japanese Yakuza gang, are accused of murdering and dismembering Mr. Ryosuke Kabashima, 47, a member of another Yakuza gang, in April.”

Prut stated that after more than six hours of interrogation on Saturday, August 10, Mr. Kato confessed to murdering his compatriot.

Mr. Suzuki categorically denied all the accusations and stated that he had simply accompanied Mr. Kato in the car to dispose of the body parts.

He denied having knowledge of Mr. Ryosuke's murder by Mr. Kato.

The police interrogation revealed that Mr. Kato had lent 8 million baht (208,496 euros) to the victim.

When Mr. Kato asked him to return his money, the victim refused and sent a photo of a firearm to intimidate him.

He then lured the victim to a rented warehouse in Bang Bua Thong, where he killed Mr. Ryosuke and dismembered his body.

Later, accompanied by Mr. Suzuki and a Thai driver, he dumped the remains of Mr. Ryosuke in plastic bags on the Ban Kluai-Sai Noi road in Pimolrat subdistrict, Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi province.

Kato, Suzuki and a Thai driver were wanted under arrest warrants issued by the Provincial Court of Nonthaburi for:

Premeditated murder, concealment, abduction or destruction of a corpse or body parts to conceal a death or the cause of death.
