A foreign tourist lost his mind and caused several incidents on Saturday, July 6, in Phuket, southern Thailand.
The tourist, whose nationality is unknown, attacked a Myanmar worker, was then taken to a hospital, escaped by stealing a van and crashing it into another van on Patong Hill.
On Saturday, law enforcement officers from Patong Police Station responded to the scene of an accident involving two vans near the Por Suea Shrine on Phra Barami Street in Patong Hill.
The accident, which left two people injured, caused significant traffic disruptions both at the entrance and exit of the area.
The first injured person, the foreign tourist, was trapped inside a white Toyota van with Songkhla license plates.
Rescue personnel from the Kusoldharm Foundation had to use hydraulic grabs to free the tourist, who was then taken to Patong Hospital.
The second victim, the driver of a black Hyundai van with Phuket license plates, Sompong Ruangchan, was injured in the leg.
Tiwa Santhichatsak said he parked his white Toyota van to buy durians at a PTT gas station on Patong Hill Road.
He left the engine running and suddenly a stranger stole his vehicle and drove towards Patong Beach.
Tiwa chased the van and realized it had collided with another van, damaging both vehicles.
The accident caused heavy traffic jams in both directions on Patong Hill.
The police intervened quickly to ease the traffic and began their investigation.
The foreign tourist involved in the collision was questioned and the embassy was contacted to take legal action.
Chalermpong Sangdee, Move Forward Party MP for Phuket's 2nd constituency, provided additional information.
He revealed that before the incident, the foreign tourist had become agitated and assaulted a Myanmar worker.
The tourist was then apprehended and taken to hospital, from where he later escaped.
He then stole the van and caused the accident.
At this time, it is not known what caused the tourist to lose his mind and lead to this night of madness.
