China has announced the end of quarantine for incoming travelers starting January 8, which will finally allow the Chinese to travel again.
So, Chinese tourists will soon return to Thailand, a development that will bring joy to the tourism sector and disappoint some travelers.

China's National Health Commission announced on Monday, December 26, that China will stop requiring incoming travelers to be quarantined starting January 8.
This is a major step towards easing border restrictions, which have been largely closed since 2020.
China's management of Covid-19 will also be downgraded to category B, less strict, from category A, currently high-level, the health authority said in a statement.
Three years of zero-tolerance measures, ranging from border closures to frequent lockdowns, have taken a toll on the Chinese economy, fueling last month's largest public outcry on the continent since President Xi Jinping came to power in 2012.
But this month, China made a sharp policy U-turn, abandoning almost all Covid restrictions in the country, leaving hospitals across the country scrambling to cope with a nationwide wave of infections.
Strict conditions imposed on incoming travelers remain in place, including five days of mandatory quarantine in a government-supervised facility and three additional days of isolation at home.
This restriction, as well as another concerning the number of passengers on international flights, will be lifted from January 8.
However, travelers entering China will still have to undergo a PCR test 48 hours before their departure, the health authority indicated.
The arrangements allowing foreigners to travel to China, particularly to work or do business, will be improved and the necessary visas will also be facilitated, the authority said.
But the entry and exit of passengers at maritime and land ports will gradually resume, while Chinese nationals' travel abroad will be restored "in an orderly manner", it added.
Since January 2020, China had classified COVID-19 as a category B infectious disease, but managed it according to category A protocols that cover diseases like bubonic plague and cholera, giving local authorities the power to quarantine patients and their close contacts and lock down regions.
As China scales back its management of the new coronavirus, the National Health Commission said that epidemic prevention and control protocols in key institutions such as elderly care facilities will be strengthened.
If an outbreak becomes severe, the institution will adopt a "closed management" to prevent the spread of infections, the authority said.
China is the last major country to consider Covid as an endemic disease.
Its containment measures had slowed the economy of $17 trillion to its lowest growth rate in nearly half a century, disrupting supply chains and global trade.

Well, back to wearing masks very quickly in Thailand… It's going to be great…
Money will ruin this country - a week ago, after corruption scandals were revealed - of fake companies set up with Thai babies - to be able to operate in the country with illegal businesses and now they're expected very soon…
These people prefer short-term money and their country completely destroyed and filthy for centuries and well listened to…
I'm leaving the country in March after 14 years here, quite happy not to see the Chinese arrive.
Good luck Thailand
We note that China is taking relaxed measures to control its nationals and foreigners ENTERING Chinese territory.
But what about the requirements of the Chinese government for its citizens wishing to leave the country for foreign vacations, when it is known that there is a resurgence of covid cases in several major Chinese cities and that new daily infections are counted in hundreds of thousands daily, in a country with a population of 1.4 billion people, many of whom are still not vaccinated and, what's more, with national vaccines that are not very effective against the Omicron mutant strains?
Are we not going to witness the arrival in certain countries usually visited by Chinese tourists, with Thailand leading the way, of a risk of proliferation and viral contagion in a Thai population vaccinated at 80% with the Chinese Sinovac vaccine, for over a year now.
Welcoming back and applauding the upcoming arrival of Chinese tourists is good for Thai tourism revenue, no doubt, but if it's to see a new wave of Covid threaten the Thai population and foreigners who have also come on vacation from epidemiologically virus-free countries, we risk seeing the specter of anti-Covid measures resurface in the country in the short or medium term and again a threat to the return of a still very fragile tourism and economy.
Does the Thai government plan to take special measures towards the Chinese who arrive on Thai soil, especially if on the other hand the Chinese authorities open wide the exit gates of the country without any other form of health control before authorizing the departure of air passengers ???
At a time when many Chinese agglomerations, both the capital and cities in the province of several tens of millions of inhabitants, see hundreds of thousands of contaminations rising every day, it might be useful for the Thai authorities to ask themselves the right questions about the upcoming influx (it's in 10 days !!!) of thousands of Chinese, some of whom will probably be carriers of covid Omicron without knowing it!
It seems to me that there is a real problem in the very short term, which should not be neglected in its importance and gravity…
Not good news for our peace and quiet, if the hordes come back…
For business, to be seen with the Thais…
And what about the contagion?
The arrival of the Omicron B7.1 variant will overwhelm all countries.
What is the future catastrophe announced in the different countries.
When Thai hospitals are full, what will the government do?
Great idea like this, they will be able to export their covid to Thailand again.
With the number of cases exploding in China thanks to their useless vaccine, if I were Thailand, I would close my border to the Chinese.
