A Thai man was killed in Cambodia after being tortured by a gang of thugs using metal objects and electric shocks.
As tensions between Thailand and Cambodia have resumed following the suspension of the peace agreement after a mine exploded on Thai territory, injuring four soldiers, more Thais continue to die in fraudulent call centers.

Crimes continue in Cambodia under the cover of the elites.

This latest murder adds to a series of recent cases.
The incident occurred on the sixth floor of building B, office number 218, the same place where another Thai victim, a woman named Suda from Phang Nga, had been found dead earlier.
Last month, a South Korean man was tortured to death in one of these fraudster centers which, according to numerous international reports , are protected by the Cambodian government .

Similarly, many victims prefer suicide by jumping out of windows rather than continuing to suffer torture in these centers, and law enforcement is accused of not intervening.
In January 2025, a Thai man was filmed falling from an 18-story building in Poipet, Cambodia, which houses a well-known fraudulent call center.
According to The Nation Thailand , more than a dozen people have already fallen from the same building — suicide being, for many victims, the only escape from these modern hells reminiscent of the Khmer Rouge era.
But Cambodian police are content to simply record the deaths of the victims without disrupting criminal activities or seeking to rescue other people trapped in these buildings.
Another victim of fraudulent Cambodian call centers

Sarawut, also known as Toto, a resident of Samut Prakan, died after being attacked with metal objects and subjected to electric shocks at a base known for its fraudulent activities in Cambodia.
News of Sarawut's death was relayed by the Eastern Region Thai Assistance Center on social media at 6:12 a.m. this morning, November 18.
The message highlighted the increasing violence of transnational gangs specializing in scams that lure Thai nationals under false pretenses.
"This is yet another tragic case that highlights the brutality of these criminal groups."
Sarawut's death is a chilling reminder of the lengths to which these gangs are willing to go to punish their victims.
The message also claimed that a Chinese boss had ordered his Thai subordinates to carry out the attack.
Sarawut reportedly failed to meet the high financial targets required by the scam operation, often amounting to several hundred thousand baht, and was punished with death.
A close friend of Sarawut, who managed to escape the scam network, contacted the help center and is now safe.
This friend is now working with the police and the center to repatriate Sarawut's body to Thailand.
Sarawut's employer reportedly planned to bury his body discreetly in Phnom Penh, raising fears of a cover-up attempt.
Cambodian police said they are currently investigating the complex, which is believed to be part of a large-scale call center scam targeting Thai workers.
In 2023, a Thai man imprisoned in one of these call centers and tortured there was sentenced to prison for defending himself and killing one of his torturers.
The Cambodian authorities were content to convict him of murder without taking into account his status as a victim who was a prisoner and had resisted torture, and of course, without attacking the call center.
The man, in poor physical condition following torture, subsequently fell ill and died of pneumonia in his unsanitary cell.

Kidnapped or duped through well-paid job advertisements

Foreground: Woman in a call center, background: Cambodian and Thai flags.
These centers kidnap travelers or recruit them under the guise of legitimate jobs.
Others work in these centers of their own free will.
The victims are then forced to engage in online fraud, and are tortured if they fail to meet their daily or weekly quotas.
Thai authorities have been urged to intervene and crack down on these operations, which continue to claim the lives of vulnerable citizens and ruin many families who fall victim to cybercriminals.

The current government is working with several countries and organizations to combat these call center gangs.

Efforts are currently underway to repatriate Sarawut's body and to ensure that justice is served for those involved in his murder.
