One dead and one seriously injured after another shooting in Thailand

A woman was killed while a man is in critical condition after another shooting in Bangkok on Saturday, November 11.

A little over a month after the October 3 shooting at Siam Paragon shopping center, which killed 3 and injured 4, another shooting has claimed new victims in Bangkok.

This shooting may be due to a rivalry between schools.

This type of violence is commonplace in Thailand, where students in vocational programs, who wear distinctive uniforms according to their institution, are encouraged by a ridiculous tradition and machismo to clash with firearms, knives, or fists.

On Saturday morning, shots were reported outside a TMB Thanachart (TTB) bank agency on Sunthornkosa Road in Bangkok's Klong Toey district.

The authorities who went to the scene found two people seriously injured and a knife.

Witnesses said that two men had opened fire on a group of students following a dispute.

The attackers fled on a motorcycle via Rama IV road.

A motorcycle taxi driver who witnessed the incident told police that the two armed men had parked near a group of four to five students waiting at a bus stop.

The motorcyclist approached one of the students and brandished a firearm in the direction of his head.

The targeted victim managed to avoid the initial shot, which hit a woman identified only as Sirada, a computer science teacher at the Sacred Heart Convent School, located nearby.

The teacher suffered a fatal head wound and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The gunman then fired another bullet into his target's stomach before attempting to flee.

The motorcyclist was heard shouting to the gunman to go all the way, resulting in three more shots to the student's head and neck.

The police, who suspect the shooting may be due to university rivalry, are pursuing the attackers.
