Thai authorities have expressed concern over seasonal dengue fever and advise people to consult a doctor if they show symptoms of the disease.
The government's deputy spokesperson, Traisuree Taisaranakul, stated that Thailand is currently in the rainy season, which provides an ideal environment for mosquitoes and increases the risk of dengue cases across the country.
She cited data from the Department of Disease Control (DDC), which reported 5,196 dengue cases between January 1 and June 30, including six fatalities.
The government urges the public to be vigilant and eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites in their communities.
People are also encouraged to closely monitor their personal and family health, as the pandemic is still ongoing.
Recognizing the symptoms of dengue
The general symptoms of dengue include high fever throughout the day for 2 to 7 days, headaches and muscle pain, red spots on the hands, legs and body, nausea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, but no nasal discharge.
