Typhoon Fengshen is approaching: Thailand on weather alert this weekend

Tropical storm Fengshen is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to several regions of Thailand this weekend.

Fengshen, the 24th tropical storm of the year, is expected to make landfall in Vietnam between Thursday and Saturday and bring moderate rain to northeastern Thailand and heavy rain to Chanthaburi and Trat provinces, as well as to the west coast of the southern region.

Chawalit Chanthararat, CEO of Team Consulting Engineering and Management, indicated that Fengshen caused heavy rainfall in the southern Philippines on Sunday and moved to the South China Sea on Monday.

The storm is gradually gaining strength as it moves southwest.

Hainan Island is expected to be hit by heavy rain on Wednesday as Fengshen heads towards Vietnam.

The storm will weaken rapidly after hitting Vietnam, due to the influence of colder weather from China.

You can track Fengshen's movement on the Zoom Earth website.

Less rain is expected in the north and northeast, with cooler mornings and temperatures dropping accompanied by strong winds.

In the south, isolated torrential rains and thunderstorms are expected, with accumulations that can cause flash flooding and overflows, particularly along waterways near foothills and lowlands.

Residents are advised to avoid crossing areas prone to recurrent flooding.
