The Songkran festival, from Sunday, April 13 to Wednesday, April 16, will be marked by storms, hail and rising temperatures.
The Thai Meteorological Department said a high pressure system from China was covering northeastern Thailand and the South China Sea.
Therefore, easterly and southeasterly winds will bring moisture to the north, northeast, central plain and east.
This could bring summer storms and hailstorms to the region on Sunday and Monday.
From Tuesday to Wednesday, the high pressure system will weaken, temperatures in these areas will rise and thunderstorms may occur.
The department expects hot days in these regions during this period.
Meteorologists have predicted heavy rain in parts of the south from Sunday to Wednesday.
