Thailand: Frenchman arrested in Pattaya for rape of minor in Nong Khai

A Frenchman accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in Nong Khai, northeast Thailand, has been arrested by police in Pattaya.

The man had fled to hide in Pattaya , but was unable to escape arrest.

Police from both provinces coordinated their efforts to apprehend him.

On June 8, Lieutenant Colonel Saksit Boonserm, head of the Nong Khai Provincial Investigation Unit, led an operation to apprehend the wanted French national.

Yannick, 44, was arrested in front of a building on Sukhumvit Pattaya 59 Alley in Chonburi's Bang Lamung district, following a warrant issued by the Nong Khai Court and in coordination with the Chonburi Immigration Police.

Upon his arrest, the Frenchman denied accusations of sexual assault on a minor.

Thailand: Frenchman arrested in Pattaya for rape of minor in Nong Khai

Police arrest the French suspect (in white shirt) and inspect his room in a building in Bang Lamung district of Chonburi on June 8, 2025.

In this case, the Nong Khai Provincial Investigation Police, in collaboration with the Nong Khai Provincial Social Development and Human Security officers, rescued a 13-year-old girl who was being held captive in a room in Nong Khai.

She revealed to investigators that her mother had met Yannick in a beer bar where she worked.

The mother then arranged for her to provide sexual services to this French man in a hotel in Nong Khai.

Authorities later discovered financial transactions showing that Yannick had indeed transferred money to the girl's mother.

They obtained an arrest warrant from the Nong Khai Provincial Court and learned that the suspect resided in the Pattaya area.

They then coordinated with the Chonburi immigration police to arrest him and bring him back to Nong Khai province to face justice.

Initially, the police charged the Frenchman with having, without valid reason, abducted with another person a child under the age of fifteen from his father, mother, guardian or custodian for an indecent purpose.

And for committing indecent acts on a child under thirteen, whether the child has given consent or not.

Furthermore, the Nong Khai judicial police plan to expand their investigation in order to arrest all those involved and initiate proceedings against them.

No mercy for pedophiles.

At the Niouf without bail.

And what about the mother who sells her daughter!

Yet another example of a sad reality that we thought no longer existed in Thailand, while it is still in the spotlight of the media and the courts in other Southeast Asian countries, particularly in the circles of clandestine prostitution in the Philippines and Vietnam: prostitution and forced provision of a minor, sexually offered by her parents to a foreign tourist to satisfy the latter's fantasies and provide a source of income for the parents!!!

If this illegal trade of forced prostitution of minors within the family was clandestinely active at the time of the Vietnam War and the gigantic development of "adult" sex tourism in the years that followed, the efforts of the Thai justice system to track down pedophiles, sadists and other sexual perverts in the 70s and 80s bore fruit and one could believe that this aspect of the sexual trafficking of children and young adolescents had completely disappeared...

And now this affair brings to light a very sad and tragic reality.

The investigation has only just begun and it is to be hoped that the police and magistrates in charge of this investigation will follow through to bring to justice all those involved in the forced prostitution of this young teenager, already scarred for life in her flesh and mind at barely 13 years old...

One can hardly imagine the abject mentality of the mother and the unhealthy authority that she imposed on her own daughter, a mother who herself worked in the world of bars and prostitution.

How long had this moral and physical constraint, with sequestration, existed and how many sexual relations did this young girl have to endure at the hands of adult pedophiles???

The mother's involvement here seems obvious and proven, and it is to be hoped that the investigation will determine all the evidence to charge her and to find other people who have used sexual services in this context in the past.

Despite the young age of the victim and her physical, mental and psychological trauma, it would be very useful if a female police officer and psychologist could speak very carefully and with all the necessary sensitivity with the young victim so that she can give her testimony, which is crucial in this case...

Are there special police units in Thailand, like in our country, to deal with this type of case involving minors?

I don't know, and as for this man in his forties who sexually abused this teenager, an expulsion and a return to France would be a much too lenient punishment for him and I hope that a judgment in Thailand will put him in the shade in the Thai jails of the "Hilton" penitentiary in Bangkok for several decades!!!

A case to be continued, because this should serve as an example to other potential actors working in the same sphere of pedophilia aggravated by its forced family context, the discovery of this case being perhaps the tree that hides the forest, while hoping to be wrong on this last point!

Very bad image for the French community in Isan and the rest of the country.

Shame on this man who cannot control his base instincts.

Life imprisonment for this despicable individual who does not respect the Thai people.
