An 85-year-old Buddhist monk has admitted to having sex with children, but remains protected by his community.
The man has still not been defrocked despite his confession and what is even more shocking is that he is supported by his community, as they have helped him financially on several occasions.
The pedophile monk at Ban Kaeng Si Kot temple in Ubon Ratchathani province was questioned by officials after a grandmother complained that he raped her 9-year-old grandson.
The monk confessed to sexually assaulting the boy and other children, and dared to say he did it out of kindness.
Following his confession, residents of his community said they had granted him their pardons and retained their respect for him.
While forgiving is a normal and healthy act, allowing a dangerous pedophile to continue his activities and threaten other children is unacceptable.
Just as allowing a convicted pedophile to wear a monk's robe is an insult to Buddhism in general and to the Buddhist community of Thailand (Sangha) in particular.
At their ordination, monks take an oath not to have sexual relations and if they violate this oath, they must be defrocked.
This is child rape, and therefore both the monk and the community that supports him are seriously at fault.
Rape complaint filed by the victim's grandmother

Thai police officers filmed by Police TV.
The boy's 49-year-old grandmother, Bee, said community leaders and residents tried to convince her to accept compensation from the monk and drop the case.
Faced with this pressure, she decided to take the matter to Thai news agencies.
Bee said that although she needed the money, justice for her grandson remained her priority.
She refused compensation and asked all media outlets to help her get justice.
According to Mrs Bee, her nine-year-old grandson A became a novice monk at the beginning of April.
He stayed at the temple for five days before leaving his status as a monk.
On May 7, the pedophile monk Wiboon went to Bee's house and asked A to return to the temple with him, and Bee agreed.
However, A returned home two days later, saying he did not want to stay with Wiboon.
He told Bee that Wiboon had behaved inappropriately, causing him pain.
Bee added that A's genitals were swollen and he was complaining of discomfort.
Bee first asked the boy's teacher for help.
The latter discussed the matter with A and confirmed to Bee that the sexual assault was indeed real.
Bee then filed a complaint at the Chong Mek police station and took the boy to the hospital for a medical examination.
The Monk's Confessions

Bee also reported the matter to the community leader who accompanied him to question the monk.
Pedophile monk Wiboon revealed that he loved young children and enjoyed hugging and kissing them.
If the children did not resist, he would use his mouth on them.
He claimed that A was afraid to sleep alone at night and so slept with him.
Wiboon claimed that he hugged and kissed A, insisting that the boy agreed with his behavior.
He even suggested that A enjoyed being sexually assaulted.
Unable to remember the frequency of these acts, Wiboon perceived his behavior as a habitual expression of love and kindness.
The deviant monk insisted that he had not harmed the boy and that he could not bite his private parts because he no longer had any teeth.
He added that he used to perform oral sex on his adopted son, who is now studying in Bangkok.
The pedophile later admitted that what he had done was wrong, but although he had sexually abused minors, the monk believes the act was not serious enough to force him to leave his monastic state (be defrocked).
He hopes the boy's grandmother will drop the charges, saying he has done many good deeds for the community.
The community leader was later interviewed by Thai television station Channel 3 and insisted that he and other local residents still respected Wiboon, whether the sexual assault was proven or not.
He added that Wiboon had always helped the people of the region, especially financially.
Channel 3 reported that the sexual assault has not yet been confirmed and that police are awaiting the results of the boy's medical examination to confirm the crime before launching an investigation.
But, since the monk confessed, the investigation should already be opened and the monk arrested and defrocked.

Decadence at this stage is filthy!
This is to be avoided absolutely!
One of the reasons for not having any more children?
The future of young people is compromised in a society that protects crime and 'pardons' are sold without scruples... the cliché of corrupt police says it all.
