Thai police and Meta (Facebook) are strengthening their cooperation against online scams, gambling and abusive loan apps.

On February 20, Deputy Inspector General and Deputy Spokesperson Trairong Pewpan chaired a meeting with representatives from the Cybercrime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) and Meta executives.

Three representatives from Meta were present: Ben Leechaianan, head of public affairs for Thailand, as well as Avinash Raju and Fatima Laraib.

Discussions focused on developing effective measures to block illegal platforms and misleading ads that recruit victims for scam call centers in Burma or Cambodia.

This collaboration has already led Meta to deactivate Facebook pages suspected of illegal activities.

Data from the Royal Thai Police shows that more than 52,000 pages were blocked between October 2025 and February 2026.

The two parties meet monthly to monitor progress, assess new cyber threats, and improve enforcement strategies.

This ongoing partnership underlines the government's commitment to making cybercrime prevention a national priority and to maintaining constant efforts to protect the public from online exploitation.

Initially, Thailand had threatened to take legal action against Meta following scams on the social network that claimed many Thai victims.
