Thailand: Drunk Belgian tourist vandalizes 7-Eleven in Pattaya

A drunk Belgian tourist caused chaos in a Pattaya shop by smashing wine bottles and calling the police himself.

The incident occurred at a convenience store of the Tops Daily chain located on Na Kluea 16 alley in the Bang Lamung district of the famous seaside resort, around 4 a.m. on Sunday, April 27.

A man, later identified as Mr Mustafa, a 25-year-old Belgian national, burst into the store and bizarrely began pouring Coca-Cola over his head in front of the cashier.

There seems to have been an initial problem and the police were mentioned by an employee, which is what caused the madness.

Mustafa then walked over to a shelf of expensive wines and, with a wave of his hand, knocked the bottles one after the other onto the floor, shouting "police," "no problem," and then repeatedly saying "call the police."

Amused Russian tourists filmed the scene and then posted it on Instagram via the account @Mrbochkarev , and on TikTok with the caption:

“Free visa, tourists, Pattaya is crazy.”

The video quickly went viral.

Channel 3 Plus News reported that the shocked staff called the police, and officers from the Bang Lamung Police Station arrived to arrest the unruly tourist and take him to the station.

Staff confirmed the incident, but said their head office had asked them not to provide further information.

Tourist police confirmed that Mr Mustafa had been charged with drunkenness and public disorder.

The next day, after sleeping it off, he agreed to pay the store 35,000 baht (936 euros) as compensation.

The latter decided not to file a complaint and the incident was resolved through police mediation.

Residents said it took hours to clean up the mess and called the incident "totally unjustified."

Thailand is discovering the "opportunities" we have in Europe, those famous engineers from a country from another time...

35,000 is not a lot to pay.

They will all end up hating us Thais after seeing this behavior and the very lax police once again.

If he's Belgian... if he's Moroccan, he doesn't behave like that.

Last Monday, at Suvarnabhumi Airport, there was a Frenchman of "old stock"... who caused trouble in a restaurant in the customs area... he was taken away by the Police.

It's the Westerners who are sowing discord... and although this guy's name is Mustafa and he's of Moroccan origin, he's a Westerner, a Belgian.

A Moroccan from Morocco would not behave like this.

This is Western behavior.

Thailand is mostly home to low-class Westerners who don't know how to behave.

I know, I have known this country for 33 years, and I am a tourism professional in Thailand.

I saw this video several days ago...

What else can be said that hasn't already been said in circumstances like these that are repeated week after week and involve tourists under the influence of alcohol or drugs and who become uncontrollable...

The police are not even considering pursuing his charges through a court and trial, nor his deportation, leaving it to the head of the 7-Eleven chain of stores to deliver their verdict!!!

Unacceptable and lamentable on all levels!

Look for the video of what happened yesterday in Drancy following a motorcycle rodeo , always a chance...

The life of a cop is not easy, the population should support this corporation (but I admit that sometimes they are strong with the weak, obviously they risk less).
