Thailand: a couple arrested in public display on a beach in Pattaya

A Chinese man and a Thai woman were arrested on December 6 after engaging in public sex on Jomtien Beach in Pattaya.

Making love on the beach , as the band Niagara sang in the 80s, why not, but not in public, on a very touristy Thai beach and in front of offended spectators.

Police responded to numerous complaints around 11 p.m. about a couple openly engaging in intimate acts on the beach and in the water, showing complete disregard for the public.

According to witnesses, the couple continued their activities for more than 30 minutes despite numerous warnings from passersby.

Lt. Col. Piyapong Ensarn of the Pattaya said that when officers arrived at the scene, the couple were still engaged in sexual activity.

While officers were able to immediately arrest the male suspect, the female suspect initially remained in the water, claiming she could not get out because she was not clothed.

She then asked the police to provide her with clothes before leaving.

The suspects were identified as a Chinese national aged 50 to 60 and a 53-year-old Thai woman.

According to witnesses, the woman had been drinking at a nearby restaurant before meeting the Chinese tourist.

Witnesses saw the couple arguing on the beach before exposing themselves in public.

"At first, they seemed to be having a lovers' quarrel," said one tourist who witnessed the incident.

"But the situation quickly escalated into something inappropriate, which prompted us to contact the authorities."

A reconciliation on the pillow, then, but which instead of taking place in privacy, took place in defiance of good morals, in a seaside resort, which, it is true, is designated by some as being "the world capital of sex tourism".

The couple were taken to Pattaya Police Station for further investigation.

According to local authorities, the incident is being handled under public indecency laws.
