Thailand: Famous Singer Sek Loso Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison

The Thai Supreme Court sentenced rocker Sek Loso to 3 years and 20 days in prison without the possibility of parole on May 20.

Sek Loso is one of Thailand's most popular singers.

He is also highly appreciated by expatriates, including those who are not generally sensitive to Thai music.

The charges against Seksan Sukpimai (his real name) are resisting arrest, consumption of illegal drugs and possession of firearms and ammunition during a police raid at his home in 2017.

On May 20, the Min Buri Criminal Court rendered the Supreme Court's verdict.

Sek was prosecuted by the public prosecutor for obstructing the enforcement of the law, drug abuse and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, under the Thai Firearms and Ammunition Act of 1947.

The incident dates back to December 31, 2017, when Sek was arrested at his home following an arrest warrant for firing a firearm without reason.

During his arrest, Sek resisted and threatened the officers with a firearm, requiring the intervention of special units to apprehend him.

Originally, Sek had been tried and sentenced on October 25, 2018.

The first court had declared him guilty on all charges: six months for possession of a firearm, reduced sentence for confession, one and a half years for obstructing officers and six additional months for drug use.

Combined with a previous sentence of one year and three months suspended for assault, his total sentence amounted to two years and 21 months.

Despite claims that he was suffering from bipolar disorder at the time of the incident, the trial court did not accept this defense due to evidence showing that he was aware of his actions.

The appeals court subsequently reduced the sentence for possession of a registered firearm belonging to a third party to three months, resulting in a combined verdict similar to that of the first trial.

However, it upheld the sentence without the possibility of parole.

In its final verdict, the Supreme Court sentenced him to three years and 20 days in prison.

Sek was then transferred to Min Buri Prison to serve his sentence.

Before his incarceration, Sek Loso gave his children several million baht

Sek Loso shared a photo of himself with checks for his children on his social media pages on May 20, 2025.

On the same day (Tuesday, May 20), Sek Loso's Facebook page, which has 6.4 million followers, had a crying emoji sticker.

The singer posted an emotional message with two photos.

The first photo shows him with three checks and the other photo shows the three checks made out to his three children.

Mr. Setthakan Sukphimai: 2 million bahts (53,920 euros), Mrs. Nattharin Sukphimai: 1 million bahts (26,960 euros) and Miss Kanthida Sukphimai: 1 million bahts, the 3 checks are dated May 18, 2025.

His three children are nicknamed Tiger, Kwang and London.

The posted message said:

"My children, I love you, I care about you and you miss me with all my heart.

Since the children were in their mother's womb, everything the father has created belongs to his children, but he did not raise his children with money.

Because parents know that their children are wise in their spending and are frugal, they save and develop their financial plans better than their parents.

But what's maybe bad is that they have little time for the children.

And even if problems arise, what weight does it represent?

These three siblings are the heart, eyes, soul, and breath of their father and mother.

For the sake of your father, I've given you money for emergencies.

Keep it precious, spend it well, and don't let yourself be deceived like I was.
