Thai police have arrested a Thai woman and two other people in connection with the murder of her German husband in Prachuap Khiri Khan.
The authorities announced on Wednesday, December 24 that the body of Mark Soren, a 65-year-old German national, was discovered in a house in the sub-district of Huai Sai in Prachuap Khiri Khan province on December 19.
Nittaya, a 45-year-old Thai woman, reported to Khlong Wan police that after noticing a foul odor, she had discovered her husband's body.
During her first interrogation, she stated that she was not living with him and thought he may have died from an underlying illness.
The police quickly became suspicious after noticing several irregularities at the scene.
Four security cameras had been removed from the house.
Mark's personal papers and mobile phone had also disappeared.
A murder disguised for nearly a month

Thai police officers explain an organizational chart of the case during a press conference on December 24, 2025, in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand.
Due to the advanced state of decomposition of the body, the police were unable to initially identify any visible injuries or signs of violence.
Mark's body was therefore taken to the police general hospital for a thorough forensic examination.
On December 20, experts confirmed that his death was not due to natural causes.
The autopsy revealed that Mark had suffered fatal head injuries and suggested that he had been beaten with a blunt object.
The police then determined that it was a staged murder, which was allegedly commissioned by the victim's wife with the help of a trusted employee.
They stated that the murder took place on the evening of November 23.
The victim's wife, Nittaya, allegedly conspired with Thongbai, 43, an employee, to attack Mark inside the house.
Confessions and three suspects now charged

The Thai wife of the German questioned by Thai authorities.
The police said that Nittaya later confessed to the murder, which allegedly took place on November 23.
Mark had arrived in Prachuap Khiri Khan by train that day, Nittaya went to pick him up at the station and took him home, where Thongbai was waiting for him.
Thongbai then attacked Mark with an iron bar and beat him to death.
The body was then left inside the house with the air conditioning on.
Nittaya waited nearly a month before reporting the death, trying to pass it off as a natural death.
She told police that the motive for the murder was the prolonged physical and psychological violence she suffered at the hands of her husband.
These allegations have not been confirmed by the authorities at this stage.
Thongbai claimed to have acted out of loyalty, explaining that Nittaya had helped him and his wife by providing them with a job and financial support.
Investigators also believe that Naowarat, 50, Thongbai's wife, was aware of the crime.
The arrests were made on December 22 by investigators from the Provincial Police Region 7 and Khlong Wan police.
Nittaya and Thongbai were charged with premeditated murder, while Naowarat was charged with complicity in murder, police said.
The three suspects were transferred to Khlong Wan police station for further judicial proceedings.
According to the Thai program Hone Krasae, Mark worked as a doctor in Germany and had married Nittaya four years earlier in his home country.
He traveled to Thailand twice a year and generally stayed there for about two months each time.
Mark owned assets and cash worth more than 10 million baht (approximately 273,388 euros)
The authorities are not ruling out the financial angle and are continuing to examine the couple's bank statements.
