A homeowner narrowly escaped death after a crane carrying a prefabricated house lost its balance and collapsed onto his home.

The incident occurred on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Soi Klang Mueang Soi 9, in the city of Khon Kaen, in northeastern Thailand.

A crane was lifting a prefabricated structure, known as a 'demountable house', from a truck to place it on prepared foundations.

The operation required lifting the load more than 10 meters above high-voltage power lines.

As the house approached its intended position, the weight proved too heavy for the crane.

It slowly tilted and then collapsed on its side, causing the structure to fall onto a neighboring house.

The incident was fully captured on video, from the moment the prefabricated house was lifted above the power lines to its collapse.

Narin Chinbut, 29, stated that he was lying at home, waiting to go to work in the afternoon, when he suddenly heard a loud noise, like an explosion.

Wood debris and dust filled the house.

He called his dog, but the animal did not appear and he was unable to find a way out.

He found himself trapped under the rubble and called for help.

He was eventually rescued from the damaged house by the site supervisors who rushed to the scene.

They forced open a window and managed to rescue him.

"I usually walk past the exact spot where the house collapsed, but I was lucky enough not to be there at the time," Narin said.

His uncle stated that he was doing laundry outside when he heard the loud noise and rushed to see what was happening.

He believes that the accident was caused by an operator error.

According to Narin, after the incident, the crane company allegedly contacted the family only to tell them that its insurance company would inspect the damage and pay compensation.
