The video of the frightening encounter between a British tourist and monkeys in Thailand has gone viral on social media.
A British tourist had a shocking and unforgettable experience on holiday in Thailand when a group of monkeys surrounded him in a hotel pool.
The young man was making high-pitched screams that certainly attracted the monkeys.
Kane Smith, the tourist in question, posted the video of the incident on TikTok on March 19.
The video quickly gained popularity on multiple platforms, attracting users' attention.
On Tuesday, March 25, the video had 38 million views on just TikTok.
The now-viral footage begins with Kane relaxing in a hotel pool when he starts making high-pitched screams.
Then a first monkey approaches him and other monkeys begin to gather around him gradually.
At first, the situation seems harmless, but it quickly degenerates as more and more monkeys seem to appear out of nowhere.
Kane, visibly disturbed, tries to move away while the monkeys slowly approach him.
» No, leave », he can be heard saying in the video, trying to keep the primates at bay.
Some monkeys are seen drinking water from the pool, while others wander around, undeterred by Smith's efforts to chase them away.
As they continue to surround him, Kane warns them:
» Don't come near me », and admits: » I'm afraid ».
Kane finally manages to get out of the pool, but the monkeys continue to follow him.
However, when he makes a loud noise, they hesitate, allowing him to escape safely into an empty hotel room.

Tips to avoid trouble with monkeys in Thailand

Lopburi macaque.
As tempting as it may seem, it is not recommended to take selfies with monkeys.
It is best to keep a safe distance, not initiate contact and not take pictures with them.
Monkeys perceive eye contact and showing teeth as aggressive behavior, so it is best to avoid such signals.
Sudden movements and screams can provoke them to attack, which is why it's essential to remain calm and composed in their presence.
That's why Kane found himself in this absurd situation.
It is also not recommended to feed the monkeys, as this can get them used to human food and make them dependent.
Furthermore, you should not eat or hold food in front of them, as this can attract them and encourage them to steal.
Monkeys are also drawn to shiny objects; when visiting areas with monkeys, it is advisable to remove your jewelry and piercings, avoid wearing sunglasses, and for those with long hair, tie it back in a bun.
