Two people were injured in a shooting that broke out at an entertainment venue on Khao San Road early on Friday, January 30.

Two innocent people were injured in the shooting.

The first victim was a bar employee, identified as Suriyan, 46, who was shot in the right leg.

The second victim was a 40-year-old reveler named Sirisak, who was also hit in the right leg.

The incident quickly raised public concern, with many questioning existing security measures and gun control procedures along Khao San Road, a popular nightlife destination in Bangkok.

Speaking on February 2 to the Thai PBS channel, Siam Boonsom, commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said the matter was being handled by the Chana Songkram police station.

Siam confirmed that arrest warrants had already been issued against two suspects for attempted murder.

However, the police have not publicly disclosed the identity of the suspects.

Siam explained that the initial investigations indicated that the shooting resulted from a personal dispute between the two suspects.

The two men had apparently agreed to meet on Khao San Road to resolve their conflict, but the discussion escalated and ended in gunfire when they failed to reach an agreement.

He emphasized that the police would conduct a thorough investigation, noting that the crime had occurred in a well-known tourist area and risked damaging public confidence and Thailand's tourism image.

In response to this incident, Siam stated that the police would strengthen security and weapons control measures, not only along Khao San Road, but also in other entertainment venues in Bangkok.

He added that visible surveillance and prevention measures would be strengthened to reassure residents and visitors.

The suspects announce their intention to surrender

According to Siam, the two suspects contacted the police on February 2 to inform them of their willingness to surrender.

At the moment, officials have not yet confirmed whether the surrender took place, nor have they provided further details regarding the official charges or judicial proceedings.
