A tuk tuk driver punched a foreign tourist in the face twice just because the tourist witnessed an accident and spoke out.
The attack took place on Saturday, February 25, at the entrance to the Khao San Road tourist district in Bangkok.
On Sunday morning, the citizen journalism page "Social Hunter Reborn V" posted a chaotic four-minute clip of a heated argument at the entrance to Khao San Road in Bangkok on Facebook, with the caption:
"I don't know exactly what happened here, but a Thai man assaulting a foreigner is not good."
The beginning of the video shows an angry female taxi driver speaking in an Isaan dialect (from northeastern Thailand) repeatedly kicking a tuk tuk driver, who allegedly rammed her taxi.
Thai broadcaster CH7 reported that the argument began when the tuk-tuk driver denied hitting the back of his vehicle.
They began a verbal argument over who caused the accident before the unidentified foreign tourist intervened, stating that he had seen the TukTuk driver hit the woman's taxi and caused the accident.
The TukTuk driver then physically attacked the foreign tourist, hitting him twice.
The tourist remained relatively calm and didn't fight back, but he took a serious beating and was probably groggy.

CH7 praised the foreign tourist for not retaliating with violence, even though he is clearly much taller than the Thai tuk tuk driver and could have easily attacked him.
Bangkok's Chana Songkram Police Station Superintendent Colonel Sanong Saengmanee told reporters that the foreign tourist witnessed the accident, which infuriated the tuk-tuk driver, who punched him twice in the face.
The officer said police are trying to contact the three people involved for further investigation.
A few days before this incident, on Saturday, February 25, and still in the Khao San Road district, a foreign tourist accused of stealing a bottle of water was attacked by the bouncer of a nightclub.
The bouncer was subsequently fired, and police called an emergency meeting on Sunday, February 26, with all Khao San Road security officers to remind them not to resort to violence against tourists and partygoers.

Do not interfere or interfere in other people's affairs and especially do not want to help a Thai who disagrees with another Thai so as not to have problems yourself.
It's always the same in this country, either you keep quiet or you fight back and they'll jump on you, they didn't act so smart against the French 93.
Well done to this man and I hope the punishment will be appropriate.
This incident, in addition to other previous ones, repetitive and distressing in more than one way, once again demonstrates the level of education and intelligence, socialization and stress management of a certain category of Thai people, who have no other response than gratuitous violence, sometimes with dramatic consequences when they are caught red-handed in a wrongful situation involving their civil and criminal liability...
These people believe that violence is the only last resort to get out of a difficult situation, while their aggressive behavior will obviously only make things worse...
But to be able to react in a balanced manner and resolve a delicate situation through dialogue and amicable behavior, you have to be able to reason and admit your mistake, without losing face...
And this attitude is incompatible with the intellectual level of certain individuals who could be described, without being insulting, as "primitive"...
It's very violent and traumatic, and it's bad publicity for the country.
Really !!!
When it's not your country because you're a tourist, it seems to me that the first thing to do is not to interfere in the affairs of citizens... unless you're asked to, I don't understand this tourist...
I am shocked by all the comments saying he shouldn't have intervened.
He witnessed the accident caused by the tuk tuk and wanted to help the female taxi driver, it's normal to tell the truth.
What is not normal is the violent response of the tuk tuk driver.
Just because you're in another country doesn't mean you have to stop being civilized!
YOU are 100% right.
Completely agree with Kenji... here or elsewhere we remain citizens with rights and duties...
