Meena, a young elephant abandoned by her mother in 2023, formed an unlikely friendship with Edward, a rooster, in northern Thailand.
Thai Elephant Conservation Center Lampang's Facebook page posted a series of images showing Meena and Edward playing together, prompting hundreds of comments about their unique bond.
One of the photos that garnered the most comments shows Meena appearing to give Edward a sweet look.

Since her arrival last year, Meena has been a star at the center and is known for her cheerful personality.
Unaware of her size, she was seen trying to cuddle her keepers and, of course, Edward.
She also has her own show, "Meet Meena," at the center.
Meena was found after falling into a well near the Dong Yai Wildlife Sanctuary in the northeastern province of Buri Ram.
Veterinarians believe she was abandoned by her mother due to her poor health.

The elephant Meena sleeps and the rooster Edward stays by her side.
As it was discovered in March, it was named 'Meena', which means 'March' in Thai.
At first, efforts to reunite her with her flock failed; they did not come for her.
Her story has gone viral, with internet users closely following her progress.
She was eventually transferred to Lampang, where she found a new mother, Sandee.
But cohabitation between the two animals is not always easy. In this recent video, we see Meena placing her paws delicately so as not to hurt the chickens around her and involuntarily give Edward a paw.
