The baht is the monetary unit of Thailand (in Thai บาท, symbol ฿, ISO 4217 code: THB), it is divided into 100 satangs.

But, the baht is also a unit of mass used in the gold trade, equal to 15.2 grams.

New banknotes featuring Rama X

Following the death of HM Rama IX and the accession to the throne of his son King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, Rama X, new banknotes were put into circulation.

Of course, the old notes will still remain in circulation and will be gradually replaced by the banks as they wear out.

The new banknotes feature the portrait of the current king on one side and the portraits of the last ten kings on the other side.

Anecdote about Thai currency and the Euro

Shortly after the 2 euro coin was created, some clever people noticed its resemblance to the 10 baht coin.

They were so close in size and weight that European vending machines accepted them!

Kilos of 10 baht coins were then sent from Thailand to Europe before more precise adjustments to the devices put an end to this scam.

Hello, my daughter just returned from Thailand.

The currency is to be divided by approximately 35 which does not correspond to a large value in Euros.

Good evening,

Hello, I have older notes than the ones shown, I wonder if I could exchange them at the Central Bank of Thailand.

I wanted to do this 3 years ago, but COVID happened.

I hope they will take this into account.

Please keep me updated.
