Tintin in Thailand is a parody of the famous Hergé comic book published in 1999, it tells the crazy journey of the well-known characters.
In this very special issue, the main characters like Captain Haddock, Professor Calculus and the Dupont(d)s, find themselves in the land of smiles and discover the gogo bars of Bangkok and Chiang Mai .
The author's name is Baudouin de Duve and he signed his comic strip under the pseudonym: Bud E. Weyser in reference to the famous Budweiser beer, which immediately sets the tone for this crazy parody made above all for fun.

Tintin in Thailand victim of piracy
This album was initially intended for the author's friends, it was printed in a few hundred copies and distributed only in the Chiang Mai .
But later the album was pirated (which is very common in Thailand!) and the pirates even adapted it into English.
Tintin in Thailand attacks Hergé's rights holders
While we find all the sympathetic characters from the comics like Castafiore, Seraphim Lampion, General Alcazar and even the famous Chang (actually a lookalike in a gay bar!), we can see that there are none of the usual villains.
In this album, the bad roles were given to the members of the Hergé Foundation who, after being informed of the arrival of Tintin and his friends in Thailand, worry about what they might do there and the image that this would give.
When reality surpasses fiction
In reality, the Hergé Foundation contacted the Belgian police after hearing about the album.
Subsequently, a police officer posed as a buyer and arrests were made in the city of Tournai.
They then arrested the author in Antwerp.
Three men were eventually arrested, but they were all later released because the prosecution ultimately decided it was a parody of the famous comic strip and not a fake.
Tintin in Thailand, a soft comic book
While we can see Nestor having sex with Seraphin Lampion's wife, Milou having sex with the Siamese cat and the other characters having a good time in gogo bars and massage parlors, it's not a comic book for adults either, there are no shocking drawings.
This is a fun comic book primarily aimed at adults, but will also entertain teenagers.

Hello from Switzerland. I have 1 original copy signed and dedicated by Baudoin de Duve, whom I met several times some 14-15 years ago in Chiang Mai where he lives.
Hi PounPoui (chubby in Thai!)
I put the comic book for download here because you can find it almost everywhere on the net, but in fact I don't know what the author thinks about it, but it's true that a comic book is more pleasant to read on paper!
Damn, that's a killer move, JPP, with the text just on the inside cover.
